Apex patio heaters are suitable for DIY fitting provided they are used with a suitable IP rated plug. If hardwired, they must be installed by a professional electrician.
The Apex can be wall or ceiling mounted as per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Please ensure that clearance distances are adhered to when fitting: the Ecostrad Apex must be at least 1.8m from the floor and at least 50cm away from any adjacent surfaces. If wall mounted, it must be horizontally level with the control panel on the left. Please note that the carbon fibre bulb is delicate and every care should be taken not to damage it whilst unpacking or installing the heater. The surface temperature of the Apex can reach up to 95 °C, which is why the unit must be installed in a location where there is no risk of accidental contact.
The sensation of mediumwave infrared produced by this heater can be offset by wind chill. As such, we recommend installing the Apex away from any areas that are exposed to strong gusts and breezes, such as roller shutters and doors.
Ecostrad Apex infrared patio heaters come with an IP65 rating which means that they are dust-tight and will withstand low pressure jets of water.

The Ecostrad Apex is an outdoor heater that combines efficiency, style and usability to create a versatile solution for home patios and commercial outdoor spaces alike. It uses a carbon-filament bulb to create an ideal level of heat while you’re enjoying your garden – strong enough to take the chill off but with a mellowness that makes it comfortable over longer periods. The Apex’s carbon bulb has a longer lifespan compared to tungsten filament lamps and also produces less light so it’s a fantastic option if you’re looking for outdoor heating that’s low maintenance and comfortable.
This version of the Ecostrad Apex comes with its own remote control which allows you to switch the heater on and off without having to leave your seat. It’s a great choice if you’re planning to use your outdoor heater occasionally and only need basic control. When you don’t have the remote control to hand, you can also switch the Apex on and off manually using the rocker switch on the side of the appliance. The remote controlled version of the Apex should not be paired with any other external controllers. If you need more complex heat management options, take a look at the non-remote version of the Apex which can be paired with the controller of your choosing.
Ecostrad Apex Infrared Patio Heaters create a maximum heated area of 10m² outdoors and a maximum heated area of 15m² indoors. Each comes with a UK moulded plug for easy DIY fitting or can be hardwired by a professional for permanent installation outside.
