    Installing the Sunglo outside will require the services of a professional electrician as the heater must be hardwired to the mains. This is not a DIY task.

    It is possible to use the brackets provided to ceiling mount the Sunglo. For more information, please see the installation instructions in the manual. Please ensure that the Sunglo is installed more than 180cm from the floor and 40cm away from walls and ceilings.  

    The IP65 rating of this patio heater means that the housing is almost dust tight and resistant against low pressure jets of water. This rating is more than suitable enough for the majority of outdoor installations, however for particularly harsh, exposed locations, you may need to seek a product with a higher protection rating against water.

The Ecostrad Sunglo is a stylish and efficient patio heating solution that uses infrared to create effective warmth for outdoor spaces. As social gatherings start to wind down, you and your guests can sit outside and take in the night-time air in the comforting rose-coloured light of the Sunglo. Providing an instantaneous and effective heat the second it’s switched on, this infrared patio heater lets you make full use of your outdoor spaces throughout the year.

All Sunglo heaters come with a remote control which allows users to select between two heat output levels. During milder weather when only supplementary heat may be needed, the option to choose a lower output can help to minimise energy usage and reduce running costs. Though the remote requires a direct line of sight with the heater, the controls are basic and easy to use so you can adjust the heater with minimal effort. If you prefer to use the heater manually, a button on the right-hand side of the heater will also provide the same function.

An LED indicator light displays the current setting of the Sunglo so you can always tell at a glance whether the heater is at full power. The light will display as red when the heater is off, blue when the heater is on its lower heat setting, and green for full power output.

Infrared Heating Technology

Halogen heaters make first-rate patio heating solutions because of the type of heat they use. Rather than heating the surrounding air, as per conventional heating solutions, they use radiation to provide a direct form of warmth. Radiant heat travels through the air and warms any person, object or surface it comes into contact with for a direct and efficient heat transfer. The best part about infrared patio heaters is that all of the energy they use is converted into usable heat, and as infrared isn’t affected by air movement, none of their warmth is ever lost on the breeze.

Sunglo heaters use near infrared which is a form of radiant heat commonly associated with electric patio heaters. Near infrared is frequently used for outdoor applications because its vigorous heat is more effective at keeping people warm even in exposed, breezy environments with a lower ambient temperature. Other forms of infrared work less well outside because they heat gently; so, while they may provide a more comfortable sensation of warmth that’s better for long term use, they’re also more easily offset by wind-chill.

The most striking feature of the Sunglo is its attractive contemporary design and eye-catching ‘honeycomb’ grill. Inside its sleek black housing is a specially coated tungsten filament HeLeN bulb, which has an estimated lifespan of 6000 hours and is capable of providing robust heat in seconds. Tungsten elements get to such high temperatures in order to produce near infrared that they give off a bright light when in use, however, the reflectors on the inside of the heater body and the gold coating on the Sunglo’s HeLeN bulb reduce this to a pleasant glow – almost like a small sunset in your own back garden. Though the tungsten element gets very hot, the reflectors on the inside of the heater ensure that any heat is projected outwards, ensuring the rest of the product casing is kept cool.

Installation & Safety

Sunglo heaters have a hardy IP65 rating which means they are almost dust tight and can withstand low pressure jets of water. This makes the Sunglo well-suited to permanent installation outside where it may be exposed to rain or wind-blown debris. In ideal conditions, this heater can warm an area up to 16m²; it’s the perfect choice for outdoor dining areas, pub and restaurant smoking areas, or domestic patio spaces. Ecostrad Sunglo infrared patio heaters are fitted with a UK plug and come with a 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty.

If installed in an outdoor location, the services of a professional electrician will be required to hard-wire the Sunglo into the mains of your property. The wall mounting brackets supplied with the heater allow it to be installed in a variety of orientations depending on the requirements of your space.
