The BTUs above are based on a standard ΔT of ΔT50. This means a difference of 50 °C between the desired temperature of your rooms and the average water temperature of your system. It’s the standard to use if your boiler has an average water temperature of 70 °C.
Of course, the temperature of the water in your system will affect the heat output of your radiators – and not all systems operate at the same temperature. If the water is hotter, the heat output will increase. If the water is cooler, the heat output will decrease, and you may need more radiators to heat the space. If your system has an average temperature of 80 °C – common in older boilers – you should use BTUs measured at ΔT60. If your system has an average temperature of 50 °C – typical for low energy eco boilers – you should use BTUs measured at ΔT30. You can find these values in the specification tab. Remember, all heat outputs are approximations only, affected by a variety of different factors. If you are at all unsure, give our customer service team a call before buying, or check with a qualified plumber.
