For more information about the Sunvic SunStat, see the datasheet, installation instructions and user instructions.

The SunStatRF thermostat is battery powered and does not need wiring into the mains. It takes 2xAA batteries and can be used free standing or wall mounted DIY. The ideal fitting location for the thermostat is 1.5m above floor level in a location which is free from extremes of temperature, sunlight, draughts, and sources of RF interference such as TVs or computers.

The range of the thermostat’s radio frequency, within a typical house, is 30m.

SunStatRF receivers must be wired by a professional electrician. The receiver must be hardwired into both the mains and the heater or heaters to be controlled. The receiver has a maximum load of 16 Amps, which is equivalent to 3680w in an ordinary 230V power supply. Receiver size is as follows: 88 x 88 x 49mm (WxHxD).

The radio connection between the thermostat and its receivers can be temporarily lost if the batteries run out in the thermostat. You can use the manual override button on the receiver to switch your heaters on in absence of the thermostat – so you won’t freeze if you haven’t got a spare set of batteries handy! The connection will automatically be re-established when you replace the batteries.

Neither the thermostat or receivers are suitable for use in bathrooms.

The Sunvic SunStatRF is a wireless thermostat which can be used to control multiple heaters and manage temperatures up to 45 °C. This makes it the ideal heating controller for hot yoga studios where large numbers of heaters are required to maintain unusually high temperatures.

The SunStatRF is designed for use with electric heaters, radiators and panels. It is especially popular with infrared panels in hot yoga studios, where the thermostat’s high temperature control range allows you to create the humid conditions required for Bikram yoga. Most other digital thermostats will only control temperatures up to 35 °C – whilst the SunStat offers a significantly expanded range from 5 °C to 45 °C.

The SunStatRF system comes in two pieces: a thermostat and a receiver. The thermostat is battery powered and completely wireless. Fitted in a central location, it does two jobs. Firstly, it measures the temperature of the air and tells the heaters when to switch on and switch off to maintain temperatures. Secondly, it can be programmed with a heating schedule that sets your heaters to come on at different temperatures at different times of the day. It uses a radio frequency to send commands to your heaters. The SunStat receiver, meanwhile, is wired into the heaters you want to control. Once installed, the receiver can pick up messages from the thermostat and tell your heaters when to switch on and when to switch off.

The thermostat sports a large, backlit LCD display that’s easy to read. It can be mounted freestanding on a flat surface or mounted to the wall. The display shows time of day and room temperature and can be locked to prevent tampering. The thermostat is accurate to ± 1°C and comes with a 1 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. Neither the thermostat nor the receiver are suitable for use in bathrooms or other rooms with a high moisture content.

Programming

The thermostat comes with a default program that can be overridden with your own schedule. This allows you to tailor your heating to the needs of your home or business. Each day can be programmed separately, if required, with up to four programmed temperatures changes each day. So, for example: you can have the heaters switch on when the studio opens, switch to a lower temperature over lunch, switch on again in the afternoon and then switch off overnight. The programmer is easy to use, with a copy function that allows you to duplicate programs across days of the week.

For even more flexibility, the SunStatRF includes a manual mode and holiday function, which make it easy to change the way you use your heating without reprogramming the thermostat. The thermostat also has a built-in frost protection mode which will kick in whenever the temperature drops below 5 °C, even in periods where the heaters are programmed to switch off. This helps prevent damage to your pipes in periods of cold weather.

Multiple Receivers & Thermostats

The receiver can be used to control one or multiple heaters, provided the total load does not exceed 16 Amps –  3.6kW in an ordinary 230V power supply. You can use up to 4 receivers with one thermostat. At present we only sell receivers as pairs with a thermostat, but if you want to control all the receivers from one thermostat you can always purchase in pairs, set any unwanted thermostats aside and pair all the receivers with the original thermostat.

If you want to be able to zone your heating – that is, set up different temperatures and programs for different areas of your property – you will need to purchase multiple thermostats. This can be easily set up, with no risk of confusion between thermostats, by flicking the switches on the back of the thermostats to ensure they use different radio frequencies.
